Maa Ahilya Samradh Mahila Krishi Producer Company Limited is run by a group of women who really know their way around a farm. We are based out of the Mahila Jagratik Samudaek Sahyogsanstha building. It’s a long name, but we just think of it as our workspace where we get things sorted. Working in agriculture is never easy, especially when you’re trying to manage the business side of things along with the actual planting and harvesting. We all come from different families around the area, but we work together to make sure our crops get to where they need to go. There’s always a lot of chatter in the office when we’re planning the next season. We handle everything from seeds to getting the final produce ready for sale. It’s a lot of responsibility, but we’ve learned how to manage it over time. We don't have a lot of fancy equipment or a big marketing team. Most of what we do is just based on what we’ve learned from years of being on the land. Some days are stressful when the prices change or the rain doesn't come, but that’s just part of the job. We take pride in being a women-led group because it shows we can handle the heavy work just as well as anyone else. It’s just us, working hard every day to keep our farms going and our families supported through the seasons.
