We operate out of Village Mau, which is part of the Sarangpur area. If you are looking for us, we are located over at Vikram Singh’s place. It’s a quiet village in Rajgarh, nothing like the noisy cities you see on the news. We started Ankuran because a few of us farmers needed a way to work together instead of everyone just doing their own thing and hoping for the best. Being out here in Madhya Pradesh means we are close to the ground, which is where we belong. We spend most of our time in the fields or sitting around a simple table trying to figure out the season's plans. It isn't always easy, especially when the rains come too late or the market prices start acting strange for no reason. We don’t have a fancy office building with glass walls, just a basic spot where we can keep our ledgers and meet up after a long day. Usually, someone is around if you drop by, though we might be out back in the shed or helping a neighbor with a broken tractor. We just want to make sure the work gets done right and that the crops actually make it to where they are supposed to go. It is honest work, and it keeps us busy from sunrise to sunset. Sometimes we just sit on the porch when the sun goes down and talk about the next harvest or the cost of seeds.
