Minda Industries sits in the Chakan area at B/1/5. It is a busy industrial spot. There is always the sound of metal or machines running somewhere nearby. The building is a basic structure with a large metal door that we slide open every morning. Inside, it smells like grease and cold steel. We spend the day handling parts and checking the machines. The floor is concrete and has some oil stains that never really come out no matter how much we scrub. Chakan is a dusty place so we are always wiping down the workbenches. It gets pretty hot in the afternoons under the tin roof. We usually have a small fan going but it doesn't do much. There are stacks of raw materials in the corner of B/1/5. We move things around with a hand trolley. It’s hard work and our clothes usually end up pretty dirty by the end of the shift. We don't have a fancy office, just a small corner with a table and a few chairs for when we take a break. The noise is constant but you stop noticing it after an hour. I guess we focus on the tasks at hand and try to keep the workflow moving. It’s just a standard small industry setup. Nothing more, nothing less. We keep the gate shut when we leave at night and do it all again the next day.
