We’re over at Satav Industrial Estate, specifically at No. 376 and 377 in the Khara Body area of Chakan. Anyone who has been to Chakan knows it is the heart of the auto industry around here. Our place is exactly what you would expect from an automotive systems plant. It is filled with industrial equipment and stacks of components waiting to be shipped out. Because we don’t have much extra space, every corner of the shop is used for something. The guys on the floor have been doing this for years. We aren’t big on fancy meetings or corporate talk. Mostly we just communicate over the noise of the assembly lines. It gets pretty warm in here during the afternoons, but a couple of fans help a little. The address can be a bit confusing for delivery drivers sometimes because the estate is so large. Still, we’ve been here long enough that most local people know where 376 is located. We deal with a lot of steel and plastic parts. There is always a layer of dust on everything by the end of the day, which is just part of being in Chakan. Most of us take our breaks together to talk about the news or cricket scores. It’s a regular job for regular people. We focus on the daily output and making sure the parts are done to the right standard. It’s a steady rhythm that we’ve grown used to. We are just here working.
