About Mamoon National School – Education in Purba Bardhaman
Mamoon National School is situated along Nh2 at Hatpukur in Memari, within the Purba Burdwan district. Being so close to the national highway means there is a constant drone of heavy vehicles passing by, which we have all learned to ignore. There is a pond nearby, which is why the area is called Hatpukur, and it gives a bit of a natural feel to the surroundings despite the busy road. The school building is a multi-story block that stands out a bit in this local area. We have students coming in from various parts of Memari and even some of the smaller villages further out. Mornings are always a bit chaotic with buses and rickshaws dropping kids off near the highway edge. Inside, the school is divided into standard classrooms with wooden benches that have seen many years of use. We don't spend much on fancy decorations or advertising. Most of our students come to us through word of mouth among the local families. The teachers here are mostly from the district itself, so they understand the local context and the challenges the kids face. It’s a practical environment where the main goal is just to follow the curriculum and keep everyone on track. During the monsoon, the area around the highway can get quite messy, but school goes on regardless. It’s just a regular part of life here in Purba Burdwan. We are just here doing our jobs.
