M. S. Cement Blocks

Out here in Talegaon Dabhade, we run our cement block business from Kadolkar Colony. Our address is 41 Ambika Park, but it's really more of a yard where the work actually happens. Cement is a tough business because it’s heavy and it’s gray and it gets everywhere. Our clothes usually have a thin layer of dust on them by ten in the morning. We don't have a corporate office with fancy chairs. We usually just sit on whatever is available and go over the day's production. The neighborhood is fairly quiet compared to the city, but the sound of our machines and the trucks coming in to load up blocks definitely breaks that silence. It's a lot of physical labor, moving the blocks around and making sure they have cured properly before they go out to a site. We keep a close eye on the weather because rain can really mess up our schedule. There is a small shack where we keep our records and take our tea breaks. It’s a very basic operation, but it’s what we know how to do. We don't try to make it sound like something it isn't. It’s just hard work, day in and day out, making sure the blocks are solid and ready to be used for whatever someone is building. We’ve been at Ambika Park for a while now and most people around here know us.
