Working with cement means everything is always covered in a fine layer of gray dust. We are out on Saswad Jejuri Road, near Kadbane Vasti in Purandar. It’s a wide-open area which is good because we need the space for the blocks and pipes to dry. The sun is pretty strong out here on the road. We spend most of our time outside or under the sheds. It’s heavy work, moving things around all day. Most of the people around here are locals or folks passing through Saswad. We don't have any fancy displays. The products are just stacked up where they fit. You see a lot of trucks going up and down the road to Jejuri. Sometimes they stop in to see what we have ready. It's a simple operation. We mix the concrete, pour the molds, and wait. It’s not fast work. It depends a lot on the weather too. If it rains, everything slows down and we have to cover everything up. We’ve gotten used to the rhythm of the Saswad area. It’s a bit far from the main city, but we like the space. People know where to find us when they are building something nearby. We just provide the basics for construction. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy from morning until the sun goes down over the fields nearby. We usually have some tea around four to keep us going.
