Sunil Mandap Kendra

We are Sunil Mandap Kendra, located at 550 Kasba Peth on Boys Collage Road. Our place is right opposite the Saitoti Police Chowky, which makes it very easy to find. We spend our days surrounded by poles, heavy fabrics, and all the stuff you need for a big gathering. It’s a bit of a messy business, to be honest. There’s always something that needs mending or folding. When wedding season comes around, we barely sleep. We’re out there loading trucks and setting up frames in the sun or rain. It’s hard on the back and the hands. My family has been doing this in Pune for a long time. We know all the alleys in Kasba Peth. It’s a crowded neighborhood but there’s always something happening. We don't have a shiny office. Our space is more like a warehouse where everything is stacked high. Sometimes we are just sitting around waiting for the phone to ring, and other times we have five jobs going at once. We don’t use any big words to describe what we do. We just provide the tents and the seating and make sure they don't fall down. It’s practical work for the local community. We’ve seen hundreds of events come and go. We just stay here in our corner of the city, keeping the equipment ready for the next person who needs it.
