Our space is basically a big open area where we host various events and gatherings. A lot of the work involves moving heavy furniture around and setting up stages or seating plans. It’s a physical job that keeps the staff on their feet most of the day. We don’t have a lot of fancy offices; we spend most of our time out on the floor or in the back storage areas. Being near the octroi post makes us easy to find for people coming from different parts of town. We see all kinds of groups here, from families to local organizations. Each day is a bit different depending on who has booked the space. We just focus on getting the layout right and making sure the lights and fans are working. It’s a lot of coordination with decorators and caterers who come in and out. The road outside is almost always noisy, but once you get inside, we focus on the task at hand.
