Mano Sankalpa Special School For Mentally Handicapped

Our school is tucked away in Moraya Raj Park Phase 2 in Chinchwadgaon. It is a quiet part of Pune, which is good for the kids. We started this place because we saw a need for a school that actually pays attention to children who learn differently. Every day is a bit different here. Some mornings are calm, and others are a bit more chaotic, but that is just how it is with kids. We have a few rooms where we do basic activities and some therapy. The teachers have been here a long time. They know the kids by name and know what makes them happy or upset. It is not a big institution with hundreds of people. We keep things small so we can manage everything properly. We spend a lot of time on basic skills, like eating or getting dressed, which are things most people take for granted. Parents often come by to talk about how things are going at home. We listen and try to help where we can. The building is simple and clean. We have some play areas out back for them. It is nothing fancy, just a safe place for the students to spend their day while their parents are at work. We focus on the small wins, like when someone learns a new word or finally finishes a puzzle. It takes a lot of patience, but we have plenty of that to go around.
