Ankita Enterprises

Our shop, Ankita Enterprises, is right at 141 Fulwala Chowk in Raviwar Peth. It’s a very busy part of the city and it stays loud all day. There’s always someone shouting or a scooter honking right outside our door. Our place is small but we make it work for us. We sell various supplies that people in the neighborhood need for their homes. We don't have a big display window like the shops in the mall. Most of the stock is just kept in bins or piled on the floor. We know exactly where everything is, even if it looks a bit cluttered to someone else. It’s been a family business for a long time. My dad used to run it, and now I’m here most days dealing with customers. We don't have a computer system for everything, we still use a handwritten ledger for some of our records. It’s just easier that way for us and we're used to it. We don't do any social media or stuff like that. Folks just know we're here at the chowk. Sometimes we close early if it’s a slow day or if there's a festival, but usually, we are here from morning till evening. It’s a lot of standing around and talking to people about what they need. We like the local vibe of the market. It’s not fancy, but it’s our life. We just try to keep things moving and help whoever walks through the door.
