The Government Middle School

This school is right on Cuddalore Road in Ariyankuppam, Pondicherry. It is a government-run place, so things are pretty straightforward and basic. The building is an older style with high ceilings and thick walls that keep it somewhat cool even when it’s hot outside. We have a big yard where the kids gather, and there are some old trees that give a bit of shade. You can see the traffic passing by on Cuddalore Road all day long, and sometimes the dust from the road blows into the compound. We have classrooms for the middle school grades, and they are filled with the sounds of students reciting their lessons. The desks are old and the floors are made of plain stone or cement. We serve the mid-day meals every afternoon, and that is usually the busiest time of the day. The staff here works hard to keep things organized despite not having many resources. We deal with whatever comes our way, whether it's a leaky roof during the monsoon or just needing more chalk for the boards. It’s a place for the local children from Ariyankuppam to get their education without having to travel far into Pondicherry. We just follow the schedule, ring the bell for each period, and try to keep the students focused on their studies until it's time to go home. It's not a fancy school, but it serves the community as it has for many years.
