Being right on the Chennai-Trichy Highway means there is a constant sound of trucks and buses flying past. Mundiyampakkam is a hot spot, and the school sits there in Villupuram, feeling a bit like an island next to all that traffic. The dust from NH45 settles on everything, so we are always cleaning the windows and the desks. It is a large property, but it feels very functional. There are no fancy fountains or polished statues at the front. We have a wide gate where the yellow school buses turn in every morning, carefully avoiding the highway traffic. The sun gets very strong here by midday, and the shadows in the veranda are the best place to be. Inside, the rooms are plain. We have rows of desks and teachers who have been here for years. It is a long day for most of us, especially with the commute. We don't spend time on big speeches or corporate meetings. We just look at the schedule and get to the next class. The kids come from all over the district, some traveling quite far on those buses. When the final bell rings, there is a big rush to get back to the highway and head home. It is a busy, dusty, and very honest place to spend the day. We just keep things moving as best as we can.
