Kalaimagal High School

Kalaimagal High School is right on the NH Road in Thirubuvanai. Because we are near the highway, there is almost always the sound of trucks and buses passing by, but we have gotten used to it over the years. The school serves the local community here in the Villupuram area. It’s a high school, so we are dealing with teenagers who are trying to figure out their futures. The building has been here for a while and you can see that in the walls and the old wooden desks. We don't have a lot of extra money for decorations, so it looks like a very standard government-aided style school. Our days start early before the sun gets too hot. The teachers usually arrive on their scooters and the kids walk in from the nearby streets. We focus a lot on the main subjects that they need for their board exams. It’s a lot of writing and reading. In the evenings, after the final bell rings, the place gets quiet very quickly as everyone heads home to their villages. We have a small playground where the boys play some games when they have a free period. It’s a very normal, local school where we try to do our best with what we have. People in Thirubuvanai know us as the school on the main road, and that’s just how it has always been for us.
