Pearl Matric High Secondary School

We are located on Perumal Koil Street, which is a fairly busy part of the Auroville area in Pondicherry. The school isn't very large, but we use every inch of the space we have. You can usually find the principal’s office right near the front gate because we like to see who is coming and going. The building has that typical Pondicherry feel, maybe a bit worn down by the salt air, but it is home to us. We have kids from all sorts of backgrounds coming here for their matriculation and higher secondary years. The teachers do not use fancy tablets; they mostly use the old-fashioned way with books and talk. We have a small yard where the students congregate during their lunch hour to eat from their tiffin boxes. It gets pretty humid here, so we keep the windows open and hope for a breeze from the coast. There is always a lot of chatter in the staff room about lesson plans and upcoming holidays. We don't have any big marketing team writing these things for us. It’s just a teacher or a clerk sitting at a desk. We just want to make sure the kids pass their exams and learn something useful for their lives. Sometimes the gate squeaks and the stairs are a bit narrow, but it is a good place to be. We are just a neighborhood school doing our bit on this street.
