Spice Cottage Restaurant

Our restaurant is located in the Sukhmani Complex, right across from Punjabi University in Patiala. Being in the University area means we see a lot of students and faculty members walking by all the time. It’s a lively spot, especially when classes are in session and the whole street is full of young people. The complex itself is pretty standard for this part of town. We are on the ground floor, so it’s easy for people to just wander in. Inside, we have a simple arrangement of tables and chairs. We didn't hire an interior designer or anything; we just put things where they fit. The kitchen is always busy, and you can usually hear the sound of pans clanking from the dining area. We’ve been here at 147002 for a while now. The winters in Patiala get quite cold, so we try to keep the place feeling cozy, though the door is always opening and letting in the draft. We don't use any corporate slogans or have a big mission statement. We just focus on getting the cooking done and keeping the place clean enough. Sometimes the students stay a while to talk, and other times they are in a rush. We take it as it comes. It’s just a normal restaurant run by normal people in a university town. It’s not about being the fanciest place on the block, but just being here for the daily regulars who need a meal.
