Nitin Gupta Architect

If you go down toward Sanouri Gate and look opposite the Sheetla Mata Mandir, you’ll find where I work. My name is Nitin Gupta, and I’ve been doing architecture from this spot for a good bit now. Being near the temple means there is always something going on outside, which is nice. It’s a simple setup here. I spend most of my time looking at floor plans or dealing with the technical side of building things. It’s not all glamorous design work; a lot of it is just making sure the numbers add up and the structure is solid. People from around the gate come in when they want to fix up their old place or maybe add a new floor. I try to listen more than I talk, mostly because every house is different and people know what they need better than I do. I just put it on paper for them. The office isn’t huge, but it’s got everything needed to get the drawings done properly. I don’t use a lot of fancy words to describe what I do. It’s just drawing and planning so that when the builders show up, they know what they’re doing. It’s a quiet way to make a living, right here in the neighborhood. I like the routine of it and seeing things get built. Sometimes I go out to the sites to check on things, but mostly I am at the desk.
