About Kanchan Architect – Architect, Interior & Structural Design in Patiala
Started working here at 721, Phase I in the H1G Flats a while back. The office isn't anything fancy, just a room with some big tables and computers where the drawings happen. Urban Estate is usually pretty quiet in the mornings, which helps when trying to focus on these floor plans. Sometimes the printer jams or we run out of ink right when a deadline is coming up, but that’s just how it goes. We spend most of our time looking at lines on screens or paper. People from the neighborhood stop by sometimes just to ask questions about building things or how to get a permit. It’s mostly just us sitting here with tea, sketching out where walls should go. The shelves are full of old rolls of paper from years ago that we probably should clear out but never do. There’s a specific smell of paper and electronic heat in here. It is a job that takes a lot of sitting and thinking about how spaces fit together. We don't have a big sign out front, just the address and our name. Usually, someone is here from nine till late evening, depending on how much work is piled up on the desk. It’s not a corporate setup, just a local spot where we get things done. Sometimes we walk around the block just to get some air before going back to the sketches.
