This is the local government primary school here in Bhankharpur. We are located right in the middle of the village area in Patiala, which makes it easy for the local families to reach us. It’s a small place, mostly for the younger kids who live within walking distance of the gate. The building has seen many years, and we do our best to keep the walls painted and the floors as clean as possible. Every morning, the children line up for the prayer, and you can hear their voices all the way down the main street. We have a few rooms and a small open space where they sit together and eat their midday meals. The teachers here are very used to the village rhythm. Sometimes a cow wanders near the gate, or the farmers are busy in the fields just across from us. We teach the basics like reading, writing, and a bit of math. It’s not a complicated setup at all. We have some hand-made charts on the walls and old wooden desks that have been used by many students over the years. The kids are full of energy, and they mostly just want to play when they get the chance. We try to make sure they at least finish their homework before they head home to help their families. Life in Bhankharpur is quiet for the most part, and the school is a big part of that daily routine. We don’t have much tech, but the books are there.
