B N Public School sits right on Cheeka Road in Patiala. It's been here a while now, and most of the folks around this part of town know where we are. Every morning starts about the same, with parents dropping off their children and the buses pulling in. It gets pretty noisy for a bit, then things settle down once the first bell rings. We have different classrooms for the younger ones and the older students. The building is older but we try to keep it tidy enough. Sometimes the fans make a bit of noise in the summer heat, but that's just how it goes in Patiala. Our teachers come in early to get their desks ready. There is a small playground area where the kids run around during the break times. You can hear them shouting and playing from the street. We focus on the daily lessons, making sure the notebooks are filled and the kids understand what’s on the chalkboard. It isn't a fancy place with high-tech gadgets everywhere. It's just a regular school where people work hard. We have a small office near the main gate where parents come to ask about fees or talk to the principal. The gatekeeper knows most of the families by name since they’ve been coming here for years. After the final bell, the whole place clears out pretty fast. By evening, it's just the empty corridors and the sound of the traffic on Cheeka Road. That's pretty much us.
