Mengio Agro Producer Company Limited

Our small office is at house number E-5 in Jajing village. It’s right there in Yupia. If you know the area in Papum Pare, you know it’s mostly green and quiet. We are a group of farmers from Mengio who wanted to do something together. Growing things in Arunachal is always a challenge because of the hills and the rain, but it’s what we know. We aren't some big corporation with suits. We are just people who wear boots and work in the dirt every day. The company was set up to help us get our agro products to the market. It’s not a fast business. Things take time to grow, and the mountain roads can be tricky for transport. Sometimes we just sit on the porch at E-5 and talk about the next season. We don't have a website or anything like that, just this registration and our hands. It’s a lot of manual work. We hope to make things a bit easier for the younger generation so they don't all leave for the city. It’s important to keep the farms going. We just take it day by day. If the harvest is good, we’re happy. If not, we try again next year. That’s just the way it has always been for us here in the village. We just want to keep things honest and work the land like our fathers did before us. It is a slow way to live, but it is what we have and we make it work.
