Nyobo Reyi Agrohorti Farmers Producer Company Limited is based out in Village Simong, which is near Yingkiong in the Upper Siang district. It’s a long way from the main towns, and that’s just how we like it. We are staying at Kaleng Tekseng’s place. Up here in Upper Siang, the land is steep and the weather can be quite unpredictable, but it’s great for horticulture. We grow a lot of fruits and local vegetables that you won't find anywhere else. We started this company because we realized that we could do more if we pooled our resources together. It’s not a big corporate operation by any means. It’s more like a group of friends and neighbors who meet up to discuss the harvest. We don't have a receptionist or a big sign outside. It’s just a house in the village where we keep our records and talk shop. Most of our time is spent on the hillsides, tending to the trees and plants. We deal with the Siang river being nearby and the challenges that come with mountain farming. It’s a simple life, and the company is just a part of that. We don't have any grand plans to change the world; we just want to make sure our families are taken care of through our farming. It’s just local people doing what they know best.
