Our group is Mariyang-Mopom Agrohorti Farmers Producer Company Limited. We are located in the High Region of Mariyang, specifically at house number 006. This is up in the Upper Siang area of Arunachal Pradesh. If you are heading towards Yingkiong, you know how the roads can be. Mariyang is a small place where everyone pretty much knows everyone else. We focus on both agriculture and horticulture because that is what grows best around here. A few of us got together to make this company official. We aren't doing anything flashy. Most days involve checking on the plants or meeting up in the High Region to see what needs doing next. The weather in Upper Siang can be quite unpredictable, which makes farming a bit of a challenge sometimes. We don't have a big corporate staff. It is just local people from the Mopom and Mariyang areas who have spent their lives in these fields. We use the space we have to organize the local produce. It gets a bit crowded when we have a lot of harvest coming in, but we make it work. It’s a practical way for us to keep things moving. No one here is looking for fame. We just want to make sure the farming goes okay and the crops get where they need to go. It is just our way of life in this part of the country.
