Sri Vijayalakshmi Seeds

Sri Vijayalakshmi Seeds is located right on Kachehari Road, specifically at Navlkha Road 13. When you walk inside, the first thing you usually notice is the earthy smell of the different seeds we keep in the large jute bags stacked against the walls. It is a seasonal kind of life here, where everything depends on when the rains are coming or how the ground is looking for the farmers. We spend a lot of our time talking to people who come in from the outlying villages, listening to them talk about their soil or the bugs they are seeing in their fields this year. Our hands are usually a bit dusty from handling the grain and the packets, but that is just part of the trade. The shop has a heavy wooden counter where we weigh things out, and the ledger book sits there getting more worn out every month. We don't use any fancy computer systems for the inventory; we just know what we have and what is running low based on what we see on the floor. It can get quite hot in the summer months, but the high ceilings of the old building help a little bit. We are just here to provide what the local growers need for their next harvest, staying open until the last tractor has headed home for the evening.
