Being over by the Old Bus Stand near Vivkanand Circle means we see a lot of people coming in from the outlying fields. It's a busy spot with buses pulling in and out all the time making a lot of noise and smoke. We mostly deal with things that farmers need, like different kinds of seeds for the season or sacks of fertilizer that we keep stacked up in the back. It isn't a shop for browsing, really; it’s more of a place where people come with a specific list of what they need for their crops. I spend a lot of time talking to the men about how the rain has been or if the insects are causing trouble this year. The office part of it is just a couple of desks and some old chairs where we sit and go over the paperwork for the company. It can get messy with all the dust and the bits of grain that spill out of the bags, but we sweep it out when we can. Sometimes the circle gets so crowded with tractors that it's hard to even walk across the street. We just stay focused on getting the supplies moved and making sure we have enough stock for when the planting season starts up. It’s heavy work and my back usually hurts by the end of the day from lifting the bags. I often end up staying late to finish the accounts because there is always some record that needs fixing or a supplier who called late.
