Agarwal Agro

Our place, Agarwal Agro, is located on Sardar Samand Road, right by the Shib Chouraha. Being near the crossroads means there is always something going on outside. It’s a dusty part of town because of all the tractors and trucks passing through to the farms. We spend our days dealing with seeds, sacks of fertilizer, and different things the local farmers need for their crops. The smell of the shop is very specific—a mix of earth and those chemical fertilizers. It’s not a place for someone who likes to stay clean. We have heavy bags stacked up to the ceiling sometimes, and our hands are usually a bit dirty from handling the stock. During the planting season, it gets really hectic. Farmers come in early in the morning before the sun gets too high, asking about the best time to sow or complaining about the lack of rain. We listen a lot. We don’t have a fancy showroom. It’s just a big room with a concrete floor and some old wooden chairs for people to sit and talk. The traffic at the chouraha is constant, but you get used to the noise after a few days. We just try to keep enough stock so that when a farmer makes the trip into town, we actually have what he's looking for. It's practical work for this part of the world and we enjoy the people we meet.
