Shimla Beauty Parlor

My shop is located at Mill Gate. It’s a busy spot with lots of workers and families moving around. The road can get quite dusty because of the trucks and the mill nearby. I opened Shimla Beauty Parlor to give the women here a place to get their hair done without traveling too far. We are a basic parlor. We do haircuts, braids, and some skin care. The shop is just one room with a couple of large mirrors and some plastic chairs for waiting. I don't have any of those expensive machines. I use my hands and simple tools. The walls are painted a bright color to make the place look cheerful. Sometimes the noise from the Mill Gate area is quite loud, but we just talk over it. I started this with just a few combs and a pair of scissors. Now I have a decent amount of customers who come every month. It’s a tough area to work in sometimes because of the heat and the dust, but I like the people here. They are hardworking and don't expect anything too fancy. I just try to do a good job so they leave happy. It’s a small, honest business that helps me pay my bills and keeps the local ladies looking neat. I usually keep some old magazines on the table for people to read. They are a bit torn but they do the job. We stay open until the market closes.
