Preeti Hair Cutting

Our hair cutting shop is right on Ramdev Road. It’s a straightforward place with three chairs and a big mirror that covers most of one wall. I’ve been cutting hair here for years. The road outside is always busy with bikes and trucks going past. You get used to the sound of traffic after a while. Most of my customers are men from the surrounding neighborhood who just want a decent haircut or a shave before they head to work. I keep the radio on most of the day, usually playing some old songs or the news. The floor gets covered in hair pretty quickly, so the broom is always leaning against the corner. I try to sweep up after every person, but sometimes when it’s busy, the hair piles up a bit. The chairs are old, made of heavy metal and leather that has a few cracks in it. They are still comfortable though. I have a small bench outside for people to sit on while they wait their turn. We don't take bookings; people just walk in and wait. Sometimes we talk about the weather or how the local cricket team is doing. It’s a simple life. The shop gets a lot of sunlight in the morning, which makes it nice and bright. By evening, the streetlights come on and things slow down a bit. I usually lock up around eight and head home. It is a humble place but it serves the community well.
