Down by the Chand Pole Gate in Sojat City, you will find our place, Monika Standerd Ladies Gents Beauty Parlor. We decided to handle both men and women because it’s easier for families to come to one spot. The shop is divided up so everyone has their own space and feels comfortable. It is an old building, but we’ve fixed it up to work for a parlor. Being near Chand Pole Gate means we get a lot of people walking by on their way into the city. We do everything from simple haircuts and shaves for the men to more detailed work like facials and henna for the ladies. Sojat is known for its henna, so we use it quite a lot here. It isn't a high-end salon with white walls and soft lighting. It is a practical shop with sturdy chairs and plenty of light so we can work properly. Sometimes it gets a bit chaotic when several people come in at once, and we have to manage the space carefully. We talk to our customers about their families and what is happening in Sojat City while we work. It makes the day go by faster. We don't have any big corporate rules. We just treat people fairly and try to give them the look they want. It is a local business through and through, right here at the gate, serving whoever comes in needing a bit of grooming.
