Monika Hair Cutting

If you are walking down Naya Gaon Road, you will find Monika Hair Cutting tucked in among the other shops. It is a small place, mainly just for men and kids who need a quick trim or a shave. We have two old-style barber chairs and a big mirror that covers most of the wall. It’s been here for a good while. People from the neighborhood stop in after work or on their way to the market. We don't have a receptionist or a fancy waiting room. There is just a wooden bench where you can sit and read the paper if there is someone ahead of you. The floor usually has a bit of hair on it because we stay busy, but we sweep it up when things slow down. We do basic haircuts, nothing too wild, and a lot of beard trims with a straight razor. The smell of aftershave and talcum powder is always in the air. Sometimes the neighbors pop their heads in just to say hello or talk about the weather. It gets quite warm in the summer, so we keep the ceiling fan running at full speed. We don't take appointments online or anything like that; you just show up and wait your turn. It is a simple business on Naya Gaon Road where you get exactly what you ask for without any extra talk you don't need. It is just how we like to run things here for our regulars.
