Down at Gajanand Marg number 26, we run this small hair shop. It is a very basic setup where the main focus is just on cutting hair and keeping things moving along. We have the usual set of tools like different kinds of scissors, clippers that make a bit of a buzzing noise, and a collection of combs we have used for a long time. The chairs are older models, but they work fine for the people who come in every day. Gajanand Marg is often quite busy, so there is always some kind of activity happening right outside our window. We spend most of the day standing on the hard tiled floor, which can be tough on the legs after several hours of work. The mirrors are large and take up most of one side of the room, which helps bring a little more light into the space. We do not really do anything fancy or complicated here, just straightforward hair cutting and trimming. There is usually a small pile of old newspapers for people to look through if they have to wait for a chair to open up. We keep a small wooden cupboard for our own things and the soap and cleaning supplies we need. It can feel like a bit of a tight squeeze if more than a few people are inside at once, but we have learned how to manage. The smells of talcum powder and aftershave are almost always there. It is just a simple way to spend the day.
