If you ever find yourself driving through the MIDC Tarapur Industrial Area, you will probably pass right by us. We spend most of our time dealing with the metal and profiles that go out to different places. The air in Tarapur always has that specific industrial smell, a mix of salt from the coast and whatever the factories are putting out that day. It’s not a quiet place by any means. There is always a forklift moving somewhere or a truck backing into a loading bay. Our crew is mostly local guys who have been doing this for years. We start pretty early in the morning before the humidity really kicks in. It gets sweaty pretty fast once the machines start running. We don’t spend much time worrying about how the office looks because we are usually out on the floor or checking the yard. The tea lady comes around twice a day and that’s usually when we actually stop to talk for five minutes. Sometimes the power goes out for a bit and we just wait it out near the gates. It’s just a normal way to earn a living in this part of the state. We’ve got our routine down and we just stick to it. The roads in the MIDC could be better, but we manage to get the work done regardless of the potholes.
