Once Again Die

Our shop, Once Again Die, is out in Chinchani Khadinaka, which is in the Dahanu Taluka of Palghar. We use the pin code 401503 for all our mail. It’s a bit of a journey to get here if you aren’t from the local area. We are located at the Post office address, so everyone around here knows where it is. The work we do involves making dies, which is heavy, dirty work. The shop is filled with metal scraps and the smell of industrial oil. We have these big machines that take up most of the floor space, and they make a lot of noise when they are running. It’s not the kind of place where you’d want to wear your best clothes. Most of us are in old work shirts that have seen better days. We spend the morning setting up the machines and the afternoon checking the pieces we’ve made to see if they fit the specs. There is a lot of measuring and re-measuring involved. Sometimes a die doesn't come out right and we have to start all over again, which is frustrating but that’s the nature of the job. The air can get a bit thick with the smell of metal and heat, especially in the summer months. We don’t have any fancy signs or a big office, just a desk in the corner where we keep the logs and the phone. It’s a straightforward industrial shop where we just focus on getting the metal shaped right.
