Viraj Profiles Ltd.

Our place is at G-34 in the Tarapur MIDC area, which is part of the Thane district. Viraj Profiles Ltd. is a pretty big operation compared to some of the smaller shops nearby. We deal with a lot of steel profiles and industrial manufacturing. The sound of the plant is constant, a low hum that you eventually stop noticing after working here for a few months. Being in the MIDC means we are surrounded by other factories and a lot of industrial traffic. It’s a rugged environment with lots of heavy lifting and forklifts moving around. We have shifts running at different times, so there’s always someone at the site. It’s not the cleanest work, as there’s always metal dust and oil, but it’s what we do. We focus on getting the shapes and sizes of the profiles exactly where they need to be. The heat from the furnaces can be quite intense during the summer months. We don't have a lot of time for sitting around. Our day is usually filled with checking quality and making sure the shipping trucks are loaded correctly. It’s a practical, hardworking atmosphere. We don't use fancy words to describe what we do. We just make steel products and try to keep the machines running smoothly so we can go home on time. It is physical work, but we have a good crew that gets it done.
