Ulka Steel

Our place is out in Vasai East, specifically at Plot No. 25 within the Dewan and Shah Udyog area. It’s near Waliv Phata, in Walive Village. If you’ve ever been out this way, it’s a big industrial hub that feels a bit removed from the main city. We deal with steel, so our site is full of heavy racks and piles of metal. It’s a rough and ready kind of environment. The roads around here can be pretty bad, especially when it rains and the mud gets everywhere. We don't have a polished showroom. What you see is a working yard and a simple office. The office is just a cabin with some old desks and a lot of paperwork. We spend our days loading and unloading trucks and checking the inventory. It’s physically demanding work and we are usually tired by the end of the day. There is a small tea stall just outside the gates where we all gather in the mornings. We know most of the people in the village and the other businesses in the udyog. It’s a tight-knit community in its own way. We don't use fancy words to describe what we do. We just handle steel and make sure it gets to where it needs to go. It’s a bit noisy and dusty, but it’s our workplace. We’ve been here at Plot 25 for a good while and we don't plan on moving.
