Hana Metals

Down in Mira Road, you’ll find us working at Hana Metals. It’s a bit of a drive out from the main city, but we like it here. The workshop is always noisy because of the machines and the metal hitting the floor. It’s not a quiet place to sit and think, that’s for sure. We have metal scraps in the corners and the smell of oil is pretty much everywhere. Our clothes usually have a few stains on them by the end of the shift. We’ve been in Mira Road for a while, and we've seen the neighborhood change quite a bit around us. The space is large enough for our equipment, but it feels small when we have a big order to get through. We don't have a fancy showroom. If you come by, you’re going to see us in our work gear, probably covered in a bit of dust. It’s a very physical job, and our hands show it. We use old tools that we’ve looked after for years because they still work just fine. Most days it’s just about getting the measurements right and making sure the metal is cut the way it should be. It’s practical work for practical people. We don't spend much time on the computer, mostly just handling the materials and making sure things are ready to go. We keep a small radio playing in the background to help the time pass.
