Estrela Do Mar Beach Resort

Living and working out here in Khobra Vaddo is mostly about dealing with the heat and the humidity from the sea. Estrela Do Mar Beach Resort is right in the Calangute area of Bardez, so we are never far from the sound of the waves. It is a lot of work keeping a place like this running because the salt air eats everything. I spend many mornings just checking on the palm trees and making sure the paths are clear of sand. The guests usually show up with sand in their shoes and looking for a cold drink. During the busy season, it is a bit of a madhouse with people coming and going at all hours. We have different rooms spread out and sometimes I forget which guest is in which one. Calangute is a loud place, but once you get inside the property, it feels a bit more like the old Goa. We don't have those big corporate rules, we just try to make sure the towels are dry and the lights work. Occasionally the power goes out, which is just how things are in this part of the country. I like sitting by the entrance in the late evening when the sun is going down. You can hear the music from the beach shacks nearby. It's a lot of walking back and forth between the reception and the rooms, but I don't mind it much.
