Abalane Resort

Our place in Gorbhat has been running for a good many years now. Usually, Little Baga is quite loud with all the tourists, but this corner stays mostly peaceful. This isn't a huge operation. Just a few of us handle the cleaning, gardening, and keeping the rooms ready. Most mornings involve sweeping up leaves or checking that the water tanks are full. The salt air from the ocean nearby tends to rust things quickly. There is always a door hinge to oil or a patch of paint that needs a bit of attention. We don't have a big fancy reception desk with staff in uniforms. Usually, you will find one of us sitting near the entrance or working in the back garden. We make a simple breakfast every day in our small kitchen area. It is nothing too complicated, just what is fresh and available. Sometimes the local dogs wander in to sleep in the shade and we let them stay. Our rooms are basic but we keep them very clean. We change the linens and scrub the floors ourselves. We have seen the neighborhood change a lot over the years, with more shops popping up everywhere, but we just keep doing our own thing. If a guest needs something, like an extra towel or a bit of help with directions, they just come and find us. It is a lot of work to keep a place like this going, but we like the routine.
