Alam Handicrafts

Our place is at A-203 in Street No. 5, which is part of Phase-I in Baghirthi Vihar. It is a busy neighborhood with a lot of small businesses packed together. Alam Handicrafts has been in this spot for several years now. When you walk down the street, you can usually hear the sound of tools and people working. It is not a quiet office. We have several people here who handle the items by hand. There is usually quite a bit of dust around because of the materials we use, but that is just how it is with handicrafts. We don't have a big sign or a fancy lobby to welcome people. You just walk in and see the work happening right there on the floor or at the benches. The lighting isn't the best, but we make it work. Most of our day is spent checking the pieces and packing them into boxes for delivery. It gets quite hot in the summer, so we have a few fans going all the time. Sometimes the delivery trucks have a hard time getting into the narrow street, so we have to carry the boxes out to the main road ourselves. It is hard work and it isn't always pretty to look at. We don't really bother with marketing or anything like that. People find us because they know we are here in Baghirthi Vihar and we just keep our heads down and work.
