Pooja Handicrafts

If you walk down Street No. 13 in Bhajan Pura, you will eventually find us at D-508/A. We are situated right near Jankalyan School, so it gets quite loud and busy when the students are leaving for the day. At Pooja Handicrafts, we don’t have a storefront with big windows. It’s mostly just a workshop that stays full of tools, bits of wood, and various projects we haven't finished yet. There is almost always some dust on the shelves and a strong smell of whatever we happen to be working on that week. We spend a lot of our hours sitting on old stools and working with our hands. It isn't the type of place where you would ever want to wear nice clothes. My shirt usually has some kind of mark on it by lunchtime. We have been part of this Bhajan Pura neighborhood for a long time. The people around here know us well and often stop by just to say hello. We don’t use any high-tech machinery, just the same hand tools we have always used. It is slow work, but we aren't in a hurry to finish things if it means doing it wrong. We don’t have any marketing people or a sales team. We just make what we make and people come to buy it. Sometimes we run out of room and have to stack things up against the front door. It's just a normal workshop.
