New Laxmi Sweets

Down here on Sehatpur Road in Faridabad, things are always moving. Our shop, New Laxmi Sweets, is right in the middle of Chander Sharma Market. If you come by in the evening, the whole market is lit up and it’s hard to even find a place to park a bike. I spend my days behind the counter, mostly. I’ve lived in Faridabad for a long time, so I know a lot of the people who walk past the door. The market has a lot of noise, from the vegetable sellers to the music playing in the distance. We have a few fans going all the time to keep the air moving, especially when it’s humid. The shop itself is pretty straightforward. We have the display cases filled with whatever we cooked that morning. I’m usually the one who opens up the shutters around 8 AM. It takes a while to get everything set up and make sure the place is clean for the first customers. We don’t have a big corporate office or anyone telling us what to do. It’s just us running the shop and trying to keep things organized. Sometimes we have a long line out the door, and other times it’s just me and the other staff members chatting. It’s a good life in the market, and we just take it one day at a time at our little spot on Sehatpur Road.
