You can find us at 194 in the SD Block of Pitampura. We know the name Lootera Halwai Llp might make some people do a double-take, but it’s just a name we liked. We are a small halwai shop, doing things the way they’ve been done for a long time. Pitampura is a busy place with a lot of competition, so we just try to keep our heads down and focus on what’s on the stove. We make traditional sweets and snacks. The kitchen is the heart of our place, and it’s usually quite hot and smells like sugar and ghee. We don't have a big corporate structure or a bunch of investors. It’s just us and a few helpers making sure the trays are full every morning. Some days the samosas sell out before noon, and other days we have too many left over. That’s just the way it goes. We don't use fancy packaging unless someone asks for it for a gift. Mostly, it’s just paper bags and boxes. The regulars know us by name, and we know how they like their tea or which sweets they prefer. We aren't trying to be the biggest shop in Delhi. We just want to stay in our corner of SD Block and keep making things that taste like home. It’s hard work, especially during festival seasons when we barely sleep, but we wouldn't know what else to do with ourselves.
