About Gujarati Namkeen Bhandar – Food & Beverages in North Delhi
We are tucked away in Model Town at MH 29/7. Gujarati Namkeen Bhandar is a bit different from the usual sweet shops around here. We focus more on the salty, crunchy snacks that people like to have with their evening tea. We've got all the different types of sev and gathiya. The shop isn't very large, but we pack it full of containers. You can smell the roasted peanuts and the besan as soon as you step inside. We don't really do big advertisements or anything. Most of our customers are the families who live in the nearby blocks of Model Town. They know us and we know them. Sometimes a customer will come in and ask for a specific mix, and we just scoop it out for them. We spend a lot of time weighing things on the scale and sealing the plastic bags. The floor is made of old stone, and the shelves are wooden. It feels like a traditional place because it is. We don't use fancy packaging, just plain bags that get the job done. We try to keep the spices consistent so the taste doesn't change from week to week. It’s a quiet business for the most part, except for the weekends when everyone wants to stock up on snacks for their guests. We like being in this part of Model Town. It's home to us and we’ve been at this same address for a long time now, so we aren't going anywhere. We just keep our heads down and keep the snacks fresh for the neighbors.
