Ch Ram Prakash Gajak Wale

Our shop, Ch Ram Prakash Gajak Wale, is situated right in the middle of Batashan Gali at 6238/4 in the Khari Baoli area. If you have ever been to Khari Baoli, you know the strong smell of spices and sweets that fills the air. We make gajak, which is a very traditional business in this part of Old Delhi. We have been at this address for a very long time, and the shop itself has not changed much over the decades. The walls are old, and the space inside is quite tight and narrow. We still use big iron pans and the same traditional methods that have been used for generations. It involves a lot of hard manual labor, especially during the cold winter months when everyone in the city is looking for fresh gajak. The street outside is always incredibly crowded with people, shoppers, and wooden carts pushing through the gaps. It is noisy and busy from the moment we open until we close at night. We do not use any fancy modern packaging or have a marketing person. We just wrap the sweets in simple paper and hand them over to the customers. People come from all over Delhi because they know we keep the same taste year after year. We are not interested in moving to a big mall or becoming a franchise. We like being in this old lane.
