Bangla Sweet & Pastry Shop

If you walk through Al Market in Shalimar Bagh, you'll see Shop 38-39. That’s us, Bangla Sweet & Pastry Shop. We’ve got the glass counters filled up every morning. It takes a bit of time to get everything laid out properly so it looks decent. The shop isn't huge, but having two units, 38 and 39, gives us enough room to breathe. We spend most of our time in the back or standing behind the glass. The air always smells like sugar and baked flour, which you get used to after ten minutes. Shalimar Bagh gets busy in the evenings, so we try to have everything ready by then. Sometimes the floor gets a bit sticky, and we’re always mopping it down. We don’t have fancy uniforms or anything, just plain clothes that we don't mind getting a bit of flour on. People come in, point at what they want, and we pack it up in boxes. The lights in the display case sometimes flicker, and we have to give them a little tap. It’s just how things are here in the market. We keep our supplies stacked in the corner. It's a bit tight, but it works for us. We’ve been at this spot for a good bit now. Most of our day is spent counting change and refilling the trays as they get empty. There isn't much more to say about it, it's just a shop.
