Ashok Chaat Corner

Sadar Bazar is always a bit of a maze, but if you head down Gali Aray Samaj to number 2786, that is where we are. Ashok Chaat Corner has been tucked away in this lane for years. It’s a narrow spot, like most things in this part of the city. We start early in the morning getting everything chopped and ready. The lane gets incredibly crowded with shoppers and carts, so there’s always something going on right outside our door. We don't have much room for people to sit, so most everyone just stands around or eats while they walk. It’s messy and loud, but that’s Sadar Bazar for you. We don't use any high-tech equipment, just the same types of bowls and spoons we’ve used forever. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we never seem to find the time to close up and do it. We just keep serving whoever shows up. You meet all kinds of characters in this alleyway. Sometimes the rain makes the street a bit difficult, but we stay open regardless. We aren't looking to expand or become a big chain. We are just happy being the local spot in the Gali. It’s hard work, standing on your feet all day in the heat, but it’s what we know how to do.
