Haneys Cafe And Catering Company is located on the second floor of a building in New Mumbai. We’re in Flat No. 205, B-1. It’s basically a kitchen setup where we spend almost all of our time. We started doing this because we like food and wanted to make a living out of it. Most days start really early, around five or six, especially if we have a big catering order for an event or an office lunch that needs to be delivered. The smell of onions frying and various spices usually fills the hallway. Neighbors sometimes poke their heads in to see what’s cooking today. We don't have a big dining room where people sit down; it’s more about getting the food packed and sent out quickly. Our boxes and crates are always piled up near the door, waiting for the delivery guy. Navi Mumbai is a good place for us because there's a bit more space, even if the traffic can be a real pain when we’re trying to deliver on time. We use a few local markets for our vegetables and meat. Sometimes the stove acts up or we run out of storage containers, but we manage. It’s just a few of us in the kitchen, making sure the orders are right. We don’t do fancy ads. Most people find out about us through word of mouth. It’s hard work, standing on your feet all day, but we get by.
