About Laxminarayan Flour Mills – Food & Beverages in Nagpur
We are over at Plot No. 41 in Mishrilal Nagar. If you are walking toward the mandir, you will probably hear the sound of our machines before you see the building. Laxminarayan Flour Mills has been here for quite some time now. The whole place usually smells like ground wheat and grain. There is always a fine layer of white flour dust on everything. It doesn't matter how much we try to clean it up. It gets on our clothes and even in our hair by the end of a long shift. People from the neighborhood bring their bags of grain to us. We spend the day pouring them into the mills. It is noisy work. We don't do much talking while the machines are running. We just nod and get the weight right. The space is mostly taken up by the big grinding units and the sacks waiting to be processed. Near the mandir, it stays fairly peaceful in the early mornings. Once the sun is up, it gets busy with people coming and going. We keep a simple logbook for all the orders. Sometimes the machines need a bit of a fix. We spend the afternoon with wrenches and grease. It’s just honest work, making sure the flour is ready for the local families to take home for their chapatis. Sometimes we take a break when the power cuts out and just wait by the door until the motor can start humming again.
