Shiva Marbal

Shiva Marbal is located in Makrana, right near the industrial area. Everyone knows Makrana is the place for marble, so there is a lot of competition around here. We try to keep things simple at our place. We are not a huge operation with hundreds of workers. It is just a handful of us making sure everything runs okay. Being near the industrial area means there is always a truck idling nearby or someone cutting stone. The sound of saws is pretty constant during the day. We have our yard where we keep the blocks and slabs. Some of the marble we get is really nice, but we don't go around bragging about it. We just put it out there and if someone likes it, they buy it. Our office is just a room with a couple of chairs and a fan that squeaks a little. We spend a lot of time drinking tea and talking to the drivers who bring the raw blocks in. The dust in Makrana is something else; it gets into everything no matter how much you clean. But that is just how it is when you live and work in a marble town. We have been doing this for years and we don't see ourselves doing anything else. It is what we know. We just take it one day at a time, moving stones and helping folks.
