Prakash Marble

Our shop, Prakash Marble, is located in Karni Colony, which is right by the Naya Darwaja area. We spend our days surrounded by different types of stone and marble slabs. It’s a heavy business, literally. We have to move these big pieces around very carefully so they don’t crack or chip. People come in looking for something that will look good in their kitchens or for their floors. We show them what we have in the yard, and sometimes they spend a long time just looking at the patterns in the stone. There is always the sound of cutting or polishing going on in the background. It gets a bit messy with all the water and the stone dust, but that’s just part of the job. We keep a variety of slabs leaning against the walls. The neighborhood around Naya Darwaja is quite lively, so we get a lot of walk-in traffic from folks who are renovating. We aren't a big showroom with bright lights; it’s more of a practical yard where you can see the actual material as it is. We talk to contractors and homeowners every day about what size they need and how much it will weigh. It’s simple, honest work. We just try to keep a good selection of stone on hand so people can find what they need for their homes without having to travel too far out of the colony. There’s always someone stopping by to ask about prices or colors and we do our best to help them.
